Want to be part of shaping the future of marketing CILs?

Aprosae’s founder, Michelle West, has been the Director of Marketing for the Center for Independent Living in Colorado Springs for over five years. When she presented at the NCIL conference on the topic of Marketing, person after person told her they didn’t have the Marketing skills to get the word out about their services, let alone that their CIL even exists!

That’s when she started dreaming of a way to solve this problem and created Aprosae. Aprosae’s hope is that CILs won’t just advocate for People with Disabilities, they’ll also advocate for their CIL through marketing to their communities. To do this, Aprosae will teach CILs, through webinars or in-person workshops, how to create a brochure, peer support flyer, get local media coverage, maintain a website, create community through social media, and everything else about marketing a CIL. Aprosae will also offer traditional marketing/advertising agency services for Centers for Independent Living that don’t want to produce marketing projects on their own.

While Aprosae is in the development stages to make this happen, they’re seeking Advisory Committee members whose sole responsibility will be to provide objective opinions about the services and products Aprosae develops. The only requirements for a person to be on Aprosae’s Advisory Committee are that the person is a current employee of a Center for Independent Living and will sign a conflict of interest disclosure form.

Benefits for Advisory Committee members include:

  • The opportunity to share professional insight to help develop a solution that addresses the barriers CILs face with marketing.
  • Engaging in valuable networking opportunities with other CILs.
  • Participating in strategic dialogue that will help shape the future of marketing for Centers for Independent Living.
  • An opportunity to sharpen leadership skills in a supportive environment.

Advisory Committee members do not:

  • Have any legal responsibilities for Aprosae.
  • Have decision-making power for Aprosae.
  • Speak on behalf of Aprosae.

The committee will meet for 1 hour on three separate dates in October and November 2020 via a web meeting. In September, an email will be sent out to decide the best time for all members. For those who are unable to attend, the web meeting will be recorded and the member can provide feedback via email.

If you’re interested, please send Michelle West a message with any accommodation requests you have. She’ll respond to you with further steps.

Thank you!
